在我国的高等教育中，艺术设计专业以 形象思维和实用性强的鲜明特点与其他专业 相区别。在突出艺术设计专业的实践性和实 用性强的特征时，容易忽视艺术史论课程在 专业中的作用，不少院校艺术类专业对学生 的文化课基础及艺术理论教育不够重视，尤 其是史论课程没有放到应有的位置。因此， 摆正史论课与其他专业课的关系显得十分重 要，它涉及到高校塑造人才的类型和人才培 养目标的方向。艺术教育注重更新精神的培 养，史论教育在创造意识的培养中起着十分 重要的作用。笔者在高校艺术设计专业中从 事中外服装史的教学工作，在教学实践中注 意到学生重视史论课的学习，摆正中外服装 史和服装设计的关系，对培养学生的创造精 神和设计灵感举足轻重。 一、服装设计师的基本知识素质与学习 中外服装史的关系 服装设计教育在我国起步较晚，20世纪 80年代初，从中央工艺美术学院设立这门课 程开始，以后在全国各地的艺术院校、轻工 院校、纺织院校如雨后春笋般陆续设立。过 去人们对服装设计师的概念非常模糊：一是 把服装设计神秘化，认为其高深莫测；另外 就是肤浅化，认为会画画就能做服装设计 师，或者能剪裁制作衣服就可以搞服装设 计；三是简单化，以为从画报上这里抄个袖 子那里取个领子，拼贴在一起就是搞服装设 计。其实，这三种观点都不科学。实际上，服 装设计是一门综合性的学科，它涉及到自然 科学和社会科学的广阔领域，需要运用数 学、物理、化学、生理学、心理学、美学、材 料学、工艺学、人体工程学以及经济管理、市 场营销等方面的知识。服装设计师必须具备 服装设计对象、服装设计内容和服装设计方 法三个基本知识基础。服装设计对象基本知 识素质是进行服装设计的前提条件，服装设 计的对象是人，是各种不同种族、不同性格、 不同体型的人，满足这些人不断增长的物质 和精神的衣着需求，是服装设计师设计的第 一要旨；服装设计内容基本知识素质是服装 设计师应具备的基本条件，包括自身知识、 服装工艺知识和服装美学知识；服装设计方 法的基本知识素质是服装设计师的必备条 件，主要指服装设计师产生设计灵感，收集、 把握、实现这一灵感的能力，包括立体思维 能力、信息综合能力和意向表达能力，这三 种能力是对前两种基本知识素质的积累和深 化。学习中外服装史在形成和培养这三种基 本知识素质中起着重要的作用。 服装是一个民族的文化象征，也是人民 思想意识和精神风貌的体现。无论是研究中 国服装史还是外国服装史，都应注重了解每 个历史时期服装产生的政治、经济、文化、艺 术背景，分析服装材料的种类，纺织印染技 术水平状态，裁剪缝制装饰手段等，综合体 现当时社会生产力的发展水平，折射出当时 服装设计对象和服装设计内容的辩证关系 从而揭示服装艺术的发展规律，发现内在的 合理契机，以融合在新的服饰艺术设计中 通过学习中外服装史，对过去那些在服装发 展中起过重要作用的因素，进行分析研究得 到新的启迪，作为开启未来服装发展趋势的 钥匙，形成立体思维能力、信息综合能力和 意象表达能力。 服装设计思维不同于纯艺术形式的构 思，服装是艺术和科技相结合的产物，它又 是随着人类社会不断发展而变化的。仅仅运 用形象思维是不够的，必须把它放在不断发 展的历史长河中予以全方位的把握，获取有 关服装信息，去粗取精，去伪存真，为现代 错综复杂稍纵即逝的服装信息，拥有储存处 理和应用信息的知识基础做好充足的准备 学会凭借自己掌握的知识和经验，运用立体 思维方式，冷静地加以分析和研究，及时准 确地捕捉最新的有价值的信息，以产生新的 设计灵感，达到培养、借鉴前人优秀成果和 创新能力的目的。 二、服装的设计形式与学习中外服装史 的关系 在艺术的创作及设计中，形式的意义在 于将一切自然的形态转化为具有独特品位的 审美物象，从而真正取悦于人的感官需求 形式的手段往往存在于寓意借引的主题表达 上。服装的设计形式即服装的设计风格，指 的就是服装由特殊的造型、配色、配套的技 法，来构造一种主题精神气质，是一种总体 的美和综合的视觉效果。 漫步中国服装史的艺术长廊，可以清 楚地看到任何时代服饰的产生，都是当时 文化的表征，是其社会政治经济的一面镜 子。战国七雄争霸、战火连天时期，才能 出现诸多布甲、皮甲、铁铠铜盔；魏晋南 北朝时战乱频繁，民族错居，文人满腹才 华空怀报国之志，才会形成南北服饰融合 文人雅士褒衣博带以求其超然若仙之感； 隋唐五代时的盛世，展现出来的服饰是宽 衣博带，线带优美流畅，风格典雅秀丽；它既不像汉代服饰那样偏于凝重、端庄，又 不像六朝服饰那样简淡，也不像宋代服饰 那样刻板严谨，而是宽缓又有节奏，极富 于诗意的美与韵律的美，表现了大国的雍 容华贵和渲染了太平盛世的繁荣——更有 那用五彩衣裳编织起来的56个民族经纬纵 横的服饰艺术之花，在世界服饰宝库中闪 烁着诱人的光彩。 再浏览西洋服装史的艺术画卷，古希腊 的洒脱浪漫而富有诗人气质的服饰，以最自 然形态的宽服大裙包裹人体，形成无形之形 的服饰，充分表现人体的自然之美，体现了 人的高贵气派和潇洒风度，成为古代服饰艺 术风格中的一派；中世纪在基督教色彩笼罩 下，服饰成为人类包缠肉体，逃避灰色人生 的一种神奇美妙的方式，哥特式的尖状服饰 开了人类服装与建筑遥相呼应的先河；1 6 世纪文艺复兴的曙光照亮了人类服饰的人体 之美和曲线之美，但立体造型的过分夸张， 出现了紧身胸衣和篷裙把人们打入了时尚的 牢笼；17世纪巴洛克服饰，气势雄伟、生机 勃勃，在长发、蕾丝（花边）、皮革的装饰下， 营造了动态及紧张气氛，表现了各种强烈的 感情色彩，把男装推向了装饰过剩的巅峰， 渗透了女性的阴柔之美而失去了男子的阳刚 之气；18世纪罗可可服饰，用尽曲线与粉 色，创造出一种非对称的富有动感、自由奔 放、华丽繁复的艳丽及纤弱柔和的女性风 格；这时男装把矫揉造作之美完全让位于女 性，为近代服饰风格奠定了流行基础，形成 古典服饰风格。从此之后，在世界服饰舞台 上，古代的自然之美与人工雕琢的装饰之美 轮番登场，逐渐形成富有不同风格内涵的服 饰流派。 20世纪60年代开始，人类社会步入又 一个飞跃时期，高科技的发展，波普艺术和 欧普艺术的产生，多元化和国际化的政治格 局，后现代主义的产生，“嬉皮士”、“朋克” 服饰风格的出现等等，构成了这一时期的文 化艺术特征。后现代主义艺术的虚无使人们 处于游戏之中，风格的丢失是它的重要特 征。但是后现代主义艺术能够对所有风格进 行复制、模仿、重复，使风格失去了存在的 基础，成为没有风格的风格，风格在后现代 主义艺术的折衷、包容的模糊中消失。 人类服饰文明走过了几千年的发展历 程，凝结了人类爱美、求美、创造美的聪明 才智，刻下了每个时代的政治、经济、文化 艺术特征的烙印，形成了个性鲜明、内容丰 富的服饰风格。后人把它归纳为：传统形式、 古典形式、民族形式、浪漫形式、古朴形式、 豪华形式、无形式之形式等等，这些丰富而 多样的形式，着实为人类提供了某种可以移 情借喻的象征依据，成为启迪当代设计师创 作灵感的源泉，从而推出具有时代风貌的多姿多彩的衣装款式。由此可知，任何一个有 创新精神的服装设计师，是不会忽略学习中 外服装史的。 三、服装设计师的成功经验与学习中外 服装史的关系 服装作为人类社会的劳动产物，它不仅 具有物质的属性，更具有精神的属性和社会 的属性，从它诞生之日起，就是人类美化自 身的艺术品，也是服装得以发展的内在动力 之一。许多在服装设计领域取得了巨大成就 的世界级设计大师，借鉴前人创造的服饰精 华，为我们提供了很多成功的经验。 20世纪初，巴黎时装界出现了本世纪第 一位被称为革命家的设计师—波尔·波阿 莱，1906年他推出高腰身的细长型的希腊风 格成衣，把数百年来束缚女体的紧身胸衣从 女装上取掉。这是继拿破仑的帝政样式以 来，女装设计第一次摒弃紧身胸衣，这一革 命性的举动，奠定了20世纪流行的基调，也 强调他设计的支点不是在腰部，而是在肩部， 暗示出新的世纪腰身将不再是女性魅力的唯 一存在。这在服装史上具有划时代的意义， 并且又一次证实了服装史在设计师的创造灵 感中的重要作用。 天才设计师约翰·加里亚诺的不凡成 就，对我们的启示更大。1984年约翰·加 里亚诺以优异成绩从著名的伦敦圣马丁艺 术学校毕业，并获得一级院士勋章。同年7 月，他的作品在毕业生设计发布会上引起 轰动，他的灵感取之于法国大革命及法国 18世纪末年轻人的服装样式，该作品获得 了新闻界的极大关注。他的惊人才华和奋 斗精神很快使他成为英国最重要的设计师。 加里亚诺能取得如此巨大的成就，与他钻 研大量服饰的历史书籍，并在其中找到灵 感有很大的关系。他研究20世纪30年代巨 匠维奥奈的斜裁技术，对巴仑夏加和波华 亥的作品做过深入思索。1989年英国媒体 报道说，当其他设计师在街头寻找灵感时， 加里亚诺却在史料中进行研究，总能创造 出不俗的效果。可见，任何一个有作为的服 装设计师是不会忽略借鉴前人优秀成果的， 在其成功的后面都有其特定的文化背景和 底蕴。我国有几千年的丰厚文化历史，是中 国服装设计师乃至世界服装设计师灵感的 源泉，是创造未来服装王国的中流砥柱。意 大利著名服装设计师瓦伦蒂诺说道：“在我 们这个时代，没有哪一位艺术家在创作时 能够不被中国艺术遗产的永久魅力所牵 动。”因此，作为生活在中国的设计师，更 没有理由不正视自己民族的丰富遗产。 时代的车轮已驶入21世纪，我国的服装 产业跨入了设计时代，由加工型的时尚创新 能力，转向消费个性感知和生产共性中表现 个性品牌的设计能力上。设计的灵魂是创 意，不再是点、线、面的几何组合和单纯 追求表面的效果和图解式的设计创作，而是 深入挖掘品牌所处的民族时代文化背景，表 现品牌自身的物质、精神资本内涵的设计。 随着我国加入WTO，给服装业带来了机遇和 挑战，需要一大批有创造潜力的设计师担当 起中国服装业崛起的重任。 高等院校艺术设计专业是培养设计人才 的摇篮，浩如烟海的传统文化，犹如雕塑人才 的巨匠，传统文明博大精深，是无数的哲人学 者智慧荟萃的精华。而设计是人的思想智慧 的体现，是人类文化的结晶，也是物化过程进 入文化的一种过程。高校艺术设计专业引导 学生加强传统文化修养，注重专业史论课学 习，是设计人才健康成长的必由之路。专业技 术固然重要，就像设计人才的成长基石，要铸 成设计人才的摩天大厦，没有丰厚的文化底 蕴就不可能开创有张力的行业未来。古人云 ：厚德载物，君子不器。学哲学使人聪明，学 文学让人灵秀，学历史使人深邃而富有张力。 总之，有了学术意识才有创造意识，只有在肥 沃的文化土壤里充分滋养，才能成为富有创 新精神的设计人才。
